Lori is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPC E.1200012) thru the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
She earned her Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University in 2002 and completed her clinical internship at Bellefaire Jewish Children’s Bureau, for adolescents with severe mental and emotional issues on the intensive treatment unit. Therapy focused on building a therapeutic rapport to help foster the emotional growth, improve decision making, and build effective communication and emotional regulation skills.
In 2008, Lori went on to enroll in a 9 month residency program through Phoenix Interfaith Counseling in Phoenix, Arizona to study Cognitive Behavorial Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavorial Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness. Lori continues to use CBT as the primary modality in therapy.
Prior to returning to private practice, Lori has had a long career in the field of crisis work both in Cleveland and Phoenix. Lori joined the Cleveland area Mobile Crisis Team in 1999. She has spent a great deal of her professional career assessing individuals in psychiatric crisis, providing short-term crisis counseling and providing training, supervision to staff and intern students. Her last position at the Cleveland Mobile Crisis Team was coordinating the online emotional support program which delivered crisis texting and crisis chatting on both local and national portals. Prior to her move to Phoenix, Lori was one of the founding members and facilitators of a Survivor of Suicide (SOS) support group of Lyndhurst, Ohio for 6 years. While at the crisis center in Phoenix, Lori was a clinical supervisor providing weekly supervision to a staff of 26 employees.
Lori has an extensive background providing mental health treatment in a number of different clinical settings. In addition to the experiences already detailed, she has also worked at a state psychiatric hospital, Rape Crisis Center, EAP (Employee Assistance Program) and group private practice.
